Vote 2002 While perhaps not the most glamorous position-a part-time position operating on a limited budget-the Boulder County Surveyor plays an important role in growth and land disputes. Joe Van Landschoot (L) states, "If elected, I would work to reduce the role of county surveyor to the level that is necessary for the county government to protect private property rights." A 32-year-old Boulder native currently working as an IBM network architect and living with his wife in Longmont, Landschoot is also an advocate of Second Amendment guarantees, local school reform regarding federal regulations, and a progressive drug policy.
