Vote 2002
Anthony Martinez (D) says people are interested in his candidacy for leadership. Martinez would fight to allow unaffiliated voters access to the primaries. He would also work to strengthen Colorado's role in choosing the presidency and establish a Colorado Securities and Business Regulation Division. "Colorado's the state that's lost over 10,000 Qwest jobs," he says. "I'm very concerned about that." David Aitken (L) would prevent fraud by allowing a "None of the Above" vote, providing greater oversight regarding mail-in voting, being against election-day registration, and making other changes. On the primaries issue, he argues, "Letting people vote in the primary for a party that they don't belong to is sort of like letting non-members of the Elks club vote for the Elks' president." Clyde J. Harkins (American Constitution Party) would assess the constitutionality of certain Secretary of State functions, while striving to save taxpayer money. Independents voting in primaries? No. Same-day registration? No. Eliminate the party caucus? No. Mail Ballot elections? Yes. Respond: letters@boulderweekly.com
